Pinterest LOVE....

This will just be a quick post to let everyone know my new little obsession....pinterest.  I joined the site a few weeks ago not really knowing what it is.  Today I finally got around to exploring the site and making some of my own boards.  Let's just say I've been doing this all night.

I mean, where else can you find inspiration like this....

Although I'm a little on the broke side (we have tons of student loan debt and a little money grabber aka Nathan) I love thinking about my next project for our house.

I know I'm crazy but I'm already gathering ideas for Nathan's first birthday.  I'm  not sure if I mentioned this already but we actually share a birthday.  So, technically I'm planning OUR next birthday...double the reason to celebrate and double the celebration!!!!!

Next time I'll clue up our california trip!!!!  We had such a good time and I can't wait to tell you all about it!!  Oh, and I can't wait to show you our little Boo in his halloween costume!!!!!

A California Wedding

Sorry it's taken me so long to write my next post.  We've been on vacation for the past week and it's taken me a few days to get all my pics together.

Last Thursday we left for our first official vacation with Nathan.  He's been on a plane to Toronto before, but that was just to visit family.  Our friends from optometry school got married at the beautiful Terranea Resort, just outside of Los Angeles.  For those of you Bachelor fanatics like myself, the resort is also where Jason and Molly were married.  We spent three days at the resort and then we headed to Manhattan Beach where we rented a beach condo for another 4 days.  We stayed with another couple from optometry school and they have a 9 month old boy named Parker.  I'll show you some pics of the wedding first and later I'll post on the rest of the trip.

Here we are arriving at the resort.  We were greeted with some yummy champagne!!!

Then we all got cleaned up for the rehearsal dinner.  Hubs decided to take Nathan in the shower with him to speed up the process.  Plus it's always so hard to bathe a slippery infant when you don't have all of your 'baby bath accessories'.

Here we are the rehearsal dinner enjoying some wine, beer, rum and coke etc etc!!  haha!!!  Needless to say we had a great time.

And then we're off to bed at a reasonable hour.  The rest of the crew went to an after party but us new parents were in bed by 11:00 I believe.  Things certainly change with a baby.

The next day was the wedding.  It started out as a beautiful sunny day.  We even got to slip on our swim suits and lounge in the hot tub.  My hubby was a groomsman so us ladies (and babies) spent the rest of the day getting ready.

Here is the view from the ceremony site.  It was absolutely beautiful.  Unfortunately by the time the wedding came around, that warm sun turned to wind and cold.  But, it was nice while it lasted.

Here are the boys all pretty and ready to party.  We decided to hire a babysitter that was recommended by the resort.  I was a little nervous about letting a stranger watch Nathan and Parker but we were so close to them that we got to check on them multiple times throughout the night.  We took the boys to the ceremony but then hired the sitter for the cocktails and reception.

We kept calling the weekend 'mamas gone wild' and you'll see why in the next couple of pics.
Mamas getting their groove on.....

What do you get when you cross new parents, a photo booth complete with props, and lots of free alcohol.......this!!  hehe

Night night everyone!!!!

A day at the Pumpkin Patch

Today was Nathan's first visit to a pumpkin patch.  Last year this time I had just found out I was pregnant a couple of weeks earlier.  I remember wanting a hot chocolate but thinking it might have too much caffeine for a pregnant mama...haha...oh, how things change!!!!!

This year was so much fun.  As you all know Nanny is visiting so she came with us as well.  We did a hayride, haunted house, listened to a live band, and of course picked a pumpkin!!!  Nathan was a bit of a cranky pants towards the end of the day so we didn't get all the pics that I wanted...I think he got a little overtired.

Here's Hubs and Nathan.

Nanny, Hubs and Nathan with their yummy short bread cookie.

Such a little cutie

Corn Maze...it took us forever.

Look at those cheeks!!

Nanny Visits!!!

Sorry to my many followers that I've been MIA these past few weeks.  My mom (aka Nathan's Nanny) has been here visiting for the past 2 weeks.  She lives on the other side of the country so when she comes we try to soak up every second with her.

She's also been a BIG sleep-saver these past couple of weeks.  Nathan has been waking between 6 and 7:00am every morning so it's been nice to pass him over to her so we can sleep in an extra hour or two.  He's back to sleeping a little better lately (nighttime only...naps still suck) so that has also helped.  He's still not STTN but I am more than grateful that he's only waking up once to eat:)

Today is also Nanny's birthday so we're taking the family out to dinner and then Sunday we're going to the pumpkin patch!!  I'm so excited to take some pics!

So let's catch up on what's new with Nathan...

  • He's almost rolling from his back to belly.  He can get to his side and then hangs out for a bit, but then rolls to his back again.
  • He's completely rejecting his pacifier lately (eek).  He now will only take it for naps or at night, but even then won't take it if he's overtired.
  • He's had a BIG growth spurt over the last couple of weeks (I wonder if that's why his sleeping has been so bad lately??).  He's outgrown so much of his clothes lately.  Oh, and his feet can now touch the floor when he's in his jumperoo.
  • He's giggling more often now.
  • He's still on a bit of a nursing strike.  To be honest, I've completely stopped trying to breastfeed during the day.  I'm exclusively pumping now and giving him bottles except for in the middle of the night and first thing in the morning.  We're both happier this way.  The only problem with this scenario is that I'm always just shy of what he actually eats during the day so we're supplementing one bottle with formula every night.  Let me preface by saying 'THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH FORMULA'.  I was 100% formula fed and I turned out fine.  But, I was initially very upset when we started this...I guess I had this idea of how things would be for his first year of life and I wanted to exclusively breast feed for the first year of his life (well except for solids at 6 months). But, I've accepted it and I am finally happy about it.
Let me leave you with some pics of our cutie.....

New Toy and a New Milestone

This week we bought Nathan his first big boy toy.  It's called the Fisher Price Luv u Zoo Jumperoo.  He's still a little small for it (his feet still can't quite touch the ground) but I think he likes sitting upright and looking at the world in a new way.

He also started grabbing toys this week.  I could tell for the past few weeks that he was getting so close, then all of a sudden he started picking things up and grabbing them.  It's so cute.  Here he is with Sophie.

It's amazing to see how fast they change from week to week.  Before you know it, he'll be off to college...haha!!!!
